Super-8, slide shows and rune stones.
It was all my Grandpa Rowland’s fault. His stories, slide shows, and Super 8 footage of trips abroad gave me an appreciation for storytelling and all things multimedia.
Fast forward to a community radio station in the snowy hinterlands of Nome, AK. That’s where my writing career took flame. From there I spent nearly 15 years at a Seattle-based PR and marketing agency, helping tech clients create content that would generate leads, engage customers, and increase awareness about their product or service.
Today I offer those same skills to organizations of all sorts. My goal is to help each client earn a customer’s loyalty and trust through factual, useful, and engaging content.
So what’s with the name?
My Viking ancestors took storytelling seriously. Heck, they created the saga—an oral, long-form poem/ narrative—to pass down tribal knowledge. To this day, the Scandinavian countryside is dotted by thousands of rune stones commemorating the lives of Viking men and women.
I doubt you’ll find me waxing poetic around the campfire, or engraving runes in rocks. Even so, both are pretty cool examples of how stories can entertain, share knowledge and bring understanding. And that’s a big part of why I do what I do.
